Giants Causeway Tour Review: Dark Hedges & Rope Bridge

Giants Causeway tour

Right, so you’re thinking of seeing the Giants Causeway, maybe check out the Rope Bridge and that Carrickfergus Castle too it’s almost like you’re plotting a proper Northern Irish adventure? Well, honestly, I reckon you’re onto a great shout! This tour sounds like a winner for hitting lots of the highlights. I have some experiences and perspectives I can offer, which could be really helpful, very, in helping you make up your mind.

First Stop: Carrickfergus Castle

Carrickfergus Castle

First up, Carrickfergus Castle – pretty atmospheric, right? So this bad boy is steeped in history, it goes back like hundreds of years. Standing proud on the edge of the water, I just think you can feel the tales oozing from the stone. Apparently exploring Carrickfergus Castle makes for a very cracking start to your day.

Walking Under the Dark Hedges

Dark Hedges

After the castle, that legendary Dark Hedges – you know, that lane of winding, twisting trees that looks like it’s come straight out of Game of Thrones? Is that even a question? Seeing them in person is wild; the trees just look so imposing and gnarly. I reckon wandering down the Dark Hedges is something else! Seriously, go early though, to try and dodge the mega-crowds of folks doing the same!

Braving the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge

Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge

Now for that Rope Bridge; honestly, I can get a little dizzy thinking about it, but walking across is that incredible! Perched high above the crashing waves below, if you aren’t that great with heights, just be prepared for that wobbly feeling. Really! Just you can picture the fishermen who created this thing. Honestly, this bit sounds brilliant!

The Majestic Giants Causeway

Giants Causeway

The Giants Causeway, that’s gotta be the showstopper! Is that fair to say? Those crazy basalt columns all lined up are quite something! Plus, getting clued up about that legend of Finn McCool – the myth of the massive fella building a pathway to Scotland – just spices things up, more or less. Spend a bit of time scrambling over the stones and staring out across the sea; this place is truly quite different to other spots on planet earth. It tends to be somewhat magical, actually. Don’t skip hearing the myths and tales of Finn McCool on this Giant’s Causeway Tour.
