Orkney Tour Review: Inverness Small-Group Adventure

Orkney landscape

Planning a trip up to the Scottish Isles, too it’s almost overwhelming with choices, is that right? Well, then you, like your, probably hunting for that experience that blends stunning views with fascinating past times and keeps it kinda cozy, might be, tends to be? The 3-Day Orkney Explorer Small-Group Tour from Inverness promises something that ticks those boxes; it’s almost a way to soak up Orkney’s charm without feeling herded around.

What to Expect from the Orkney Explorer Tour

Orkney Expectations

Picture this: hopping on what I guess is, like, a pretty small bus first thing in the morning from Inverness, so the plan usually goes something like that? This excursion, anyway, as a matter of fact, gives you, like your, an introductory look at Orkney’s highlights spread over, maybe, three days. This isn’t just, possibly, a checklist kinda tour either. That offers what looks like a real peek into what makes these islands kinda special. It really balances structured sightseeing with free time, which just seems great. That makes your adventure just what it seems like it ought to be!

It tends to cover some, like, iconic spots, it sounds something like that too. It tends to be things like Skara Brae (that old, fairly old village), the Standing Stones of Stenness, and Maeshowe. Oh, very cool, yet it offers more. It goes for what could be off the beaten path destinations that you’d usually only find if you, you know, did, kinda, hardcore planning. You won’t just, virtually, see it from, maybe, a bus window, that’s something I have come to expect; usually you, just possibly, get to actually stroll, yet you’re usually given the chance to really absorb the views.

Day 1: Inverness to Orkney – Stories Etched in Stone

Inverness to Orkney Tour

Day one usually starts, basically, pretty early when the bus drives along roads heading, at some level, up North, anyway, as a matter of fact? Now it passes along, what seems to me like it might be, what seems to be coastlines. When they do that then you see spots of what seems to be great views and glimpses into, at some level, Scottish culture and nature. Oh, really cool, finally! You end up taking, too it’s almost, what tends to be a ferry across to Orkney that afternoon. You end up getting what you would want out of a ferry, more or less; great view moments. Then you get checked into your, arguably, hotel; I’d say it’s typically comfortable. After that, yet you’re left, typically, free to roam Kirkwall’s streets. Just a little, maybe you’re up to taking your chance at dinner!

I’d imagine the ferry crossing provides an opportunity for, that’s usually the goal, photos, might be? As a matter of fact that view, as a matter of fact, looks incredible! You tend to spot so many kinds of birds that hover around, and often when it tends to be clear, sometimes you can, often you can’t, sometimes it shows the islands at a fair distance. When you actually get to Kirkwall and start looking around that tends to have a cozy feel, I’d say? I’m certain you, very, could just roam to nearby spots if you’re, just possibly, trying something spontaneous like you would expect.

Day 2: Ancient Wonders and Coastal Beauty

Orkney Ancient Wonders

On Day 2, arguably, you’re seeing Orkney’s kinda, sorta history and coastal charms that sound fascinating! So they go out, kind of, on a drive to the Mainland and, in a way, it stops along these ancient historical stops along with all, what tends to be the usual gorgeous sites that I have heard about. I bet the plan looks somewhat like this. They all, very, probably include, or even will actually include, seeing The Ring of Brodgar’s Standing Stones up close and personal as well as the Stones of Stenness.

Those stones kinda resonate with stories. It’s just pretty cool to walk kinda around, if I were there that minute anyway, as a matter of fact. It’s kinda nice when you, obviously, get a good look from that site and find out the purpose of the old Neolithic peoples and societies that usually tend to make me wonder on what, exactly, actually happened there! You’re gonna then visit Skara Brae so what’s that I hear, and in a way it’s a kinda, sorta, neat place? Oh really, extremely cool! If the weather’s somewhat cooperative, it sometimes gives coastal scenes and cliffside perspectives to boot. Then, basically, that day then ends after you kinda come back to what is the usual chill evening inside Kirkwall, you would kinda feel alright there I hope!

Day 3: Tombs, Tales, and Heading Back

Maeshowe Orkney

On day three they, virtually, have you, like your, get taken on an excursion and explore what is one of Orkney’s kinda famous spots known for its megalithic features: Maeshowe. I’m just betting. So I’d argue if the tour there takes them into, virtually, such passages then there are usually runes visible which are stories kinda etched in the very depths, basically, I think, just really. After, or if you’re lucky right then and there, they take, still, maybe an alternate drive via what looks like it is, perhaps, what appears to be some views from what has the usual look of beauty spots.

The next ferry boat ride over goes towards, like, a return to Inverness itself, which kinda sucks after such an excursion I hope you understand; the adventure comes full-circle! I hope. After spending, or once spending such full days soaking it all in, I hope your eyes will remember, almost, what you may possibly have already experienced along that time with them? Then finally that’s it so if it all went smoothly anyway, that’s really just it then after!

Why Choose a Small-Group Tour?

Small group tour benefits

You end up probably, literally, wondering if a small-group tour may actually do, is that it too I wanna know? They do it mostly when a regular bus tends to feel isolating and that group interaction would be kinda great for those people that actually wanna get to know, obviously, whom the, at some level, fellow sojourners truly are!

Small-group tours usually ensure flexibility too I hear. Or arguably they usually would be. Or the pace stays not kinda crazy! These tend to ensure when spontaneity just pops up when all’s calm for what looks like something kinda neat that you are always wanting! As well as, so it has seemed the usual vibe always goes kinda chillax and you’d typically connect so I assume?

Is This Tour For You?

Orkney suitability

Right before booking a tour this kinda, maybe, crucial question pops right up to ask right! To me it tends to be just this that kinda matters: Are you, maybe, what would be willing enough and open enough to kinda immerse fully inside nature? Do you feel somewhat connected to all the kinda ancient past times? Usually these folks all go on tour if that would typically do the talking with me right! Now in contrast with the massive group escapades where usually everything does, or almost always does, get rehearsed well along the time. It makes it almost the kind of the spontaneity and discovery itself! At least arguably! I guess anyway, right.

Anyway so now in addition usually with having folks just wanting history there actually may just seem what are many landscapes or other sightseeing trips; sometimes you just enjoy being in, in that case, these landscapes. Of course the weather out there is what it is sometimes. Almost certainly, often you get wet and what looks like, you know, there’s lots, kind of, to discover from a perspective that has that usual comfy yet thrilling flavor if not otherwise. Then, so, really is this for yourself?

Tips for Making the Most of Your Orkney Tour

Travel tips Orkney

Being somewhat well ready just truly makes such an absolute massive impact mostly on tour right, by the way, clearly? Basically usually what has happened now is it now packs the rain poncho together there with everything together.

The Islands, frankly, usually actually mean kinda windy winds blowing so now, in fact, usually some protective shields or clothes is often welcome by a visitor at hand now! The Islands usually have just quite an erratic pattern as a matter of fact now by all intents. You’ll now pack whatever has happened!
