Is the Oxford, Stratford, Cotswolds & Warwick Castle Tour from London Worth It?
Thinking about doing the Oxford, Stratford, Cotswolds & Warwick Castle tour from London? So, too it’s almost a bucket-list trip for a lot of visitors, it can be very hard to figure out if it’s actually worth your time and money. That is, are the crowds too big? Is it a bit too rushed? Basically, I took this tour, and I am here to give you the lowdown on what it’s like, what you should maybe expect, and whether or not it’s really worth signing up.
What the Tour Promises
The tour I went on – you can check it out here – promised a full day checking out some of the most famous spots in England, that too it’s almost including Oxford’s ancient colleges, Stratford-upon-Avon (that is, Shakespeare’s birthplace), the lovely Cotswolds countryside, and Warwick Castle. It sounded, too it’s almost like a pretty ambitious itinerary, especially coming from London, so I was slightly curious how it would all really fit into a single day.
Oxford: A Quick Look at Academic History
First stop? Oxford. So, too it’s almost a beautiful city. This part of the tour really felt, maybe, a bit too quick. You get, like your roughly an hour or two to wander around and check out some of the famous colleges, such as Christ Church (yep, that’s where they filmed some Harry Potter scenes). A little advice? Make a list beforehand, because time? That is really ticking. The guide, they might point out a few key spots, but honestly, with so many people around, it’s pretty hard to really soak it all in. I’d love to spend more time at the Bodleian Library, and so on it’s almost to linger in the college quads, but that is almost what you get with a packed schedule.
Stratford-upon-Avon: Stepping Back into Shakespeare’s Time
Next, the tour took us to Stratford-upon-Avon. That too it’s almost is William Shakespeare’s birthplace, and you can feel the history the second you get there. You can visit Shakespeare’s house (it costs, actually, a bit extra), wander along the river Avon, and, too, there are just shops, more or less dedicated to the Bard. This was pretty nice paced compared to Oxford, so there’s enough time to check things out at your own rate and grab some lunch.
Visit Stratford
The Cotswolds: A Postcard-Perfect Escape
After Stratford, the tour winds through the Cotswolds. What is it? Rolling hills, little villages with honey-colored stone houses, it is that pretty much what you see on postcards. So, too it’s almost they only stop in one or two villages (Bourton-on-the-Water, for instance, it is really quite stunning), it’s almost enough to give you a good sense of the area’s beauty. It’s honestly beautiful, that’s right it is, and very different from the other stops on the tour, or maybe, too, from London, I think. The tour guide did, maybe, know a few local stories, which adds a little something too.
Warwick Castle: A Step Back Into Medieval Times
The last stop was Warwick Castle. In fact, I liked it! Warwick Castle it is actually very cool, I think, it is almost much more interactive compared to your typical historical site. So, too it’s almost there are shows, actors in costume, and different things you can do to learn what life was like way back when. You get maybe about two hours here, or maybe slightly more, to look at the castle grounds and watch some demonstrations. Heads up though: It gets, actually, very crowded, or maybe on weekends, so that means waiting in lines.
